Mary Perdue, Library Media Specialist

It's hard to believe that 2020-21 is my 22nd year as a Media Specialist- proof that time flies when you're having fun! I earned my Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (The kids love hearing that I was a freshman the same year as Michael Jordan.) After several years in the Public Relations and Advertising field, I was ready for a career change.

I went back to school at Georgia State University, earned my MLIS and School Library Media Specialist certification. My library career began in Fulton County at Northwestern Middle School, then opening Elkins Pointe Middle School in Roswell. When my family moved to North Cherokee County in 2007, I began working in Pickens County as the SLMS at Tate. From there, my path led to (old) Jasper Middle School and now Pickens Junior High. Somewhere along the way, I completed my Ed.S. in School Library Media at the University of West Georgia.

I am happy and excited to be part of our awesome school, and look forward to another year of helping our students find the books that will ignite their passions for reading!
