Dr. Josh Heath - Principal

Pickens Junior High Families,

I am so humbled to have the opportunity to be the principal at Pickens Junior High School for the 2023-2024 school year.  Our school has exceptional teachers and staff members who are passionate about supporting our students and challenging each one to reach their fullest potential.  As a principal, you can count on several things from me.  First, I am focused on student learning and on creating a positive learning environment in each classroom where your student can thrive.  Second, I am focused on communicating with our school community to share out the phenomenal things that take place each week at PJHS.  Finally, you can count on me to ask for feedback and to use that feedback to continuously make PJHS an even better place for students to grow and learn.  

I have previous leadership experience as a middle school assistant principal, a high school assistant principal, and as a district office leader.  I have teaching experience in special education and as a 6th and 7th grade science teacher.  I am passionate about teaching and I believe that all students can learn at levels when we create the right environment and situation in our classrooms.  Our administration team at PJHS brings a wealth of positive experiences to PJHS and we are so excited to have the chance to support our community and our students this year.
