Principal: Dr. Chad Flatt
My name is Chad Flatt, and I am proud to say that I am the principal of Pickens Junior High School. We are so excited to embark on the 2018-19 school year as we transition from a 6-8 middle school to a 7-8 junior high. Next year will mark my sixth year with the Pickens County School System and eighteenth in education overall. Having spent time as a teacher, coach, and administrator in Gwinnett County, Douglas County, and the Archdiocese of Atlanta, I can say that Pickens County Schools are some of the best in the state of Georgia. We are blessed to have a down-to-earth superintendent and an incredibly supportive board of education who place the well-being of our students above all other concerns. Moreover, we also have a well-rounded faculty with numerous years of experience and a true passion for caring for students.
Personally, I am originally from Tennessee having grown up in a small town, Sparta. I attended Maryville College in East Tennessee earning my B.A. in English. I have also earned degrees from the University of Phoenix (M.Ed) and the University of Alabama (Ed.D). More importantly, I am the lucky husband to Kelly and dad to Jack (13), Ruby (9), Quincy (8), and Gus (4). In our spare time, we enjoy reading, swimming, hiking, and spending time together as a family at our new home here in Jasper.
I want to thank each of you for your support as we work toward the common goal of seeing our students develop into happy, healthy, productive members of society. Go Dragons!
All the best,
Chad Flatt, Ed.D
